D.R.E.A.M. Clean Sweep

Spring is right around the corner and Flowertown Festival is not far behind. Before all our visitors come to call we want to do a little spring cleaning. The DREAM Design Committee invites you to participate in our 2nd DREAM Clean Sweep Day on Sunday, March 18th from 12-4 pm (early birds can start at 9am). On this day we want to encourage all merchants, downtown property and business owners, and proud residents to come join us as we work to clean up areas of the downtown.

This is the 2nd installment of the DREAM Design Committee’s ongoing process to enhance the look of our downtown. Last fall, nearly 3 dozen volunteers worked across “Short” Central and West Richardson with power washers and blowers, cleaned sidewalks, pulled weeds, picked up trash, replanted flower beds and painted a wall. The plan is for “Clean Sweep” to be a semi-annual event with each edition adding something new and exciting to our beloved downtown. This spring we will focus our attention on Hutchinson Square, Little Main and Main Street from Doty to Richardson. Help us get the square ready for our latest project “Flower the Town”, the new hanging flower baskets that should go up just before festival begins.

We have a beautiful downtown that can look even better with a little spring cleaning and DREAM is taking the lead but we need you!  Come out and help us take care of our historic downtown treasure and get the town ready to show off to our visitors during the festival.  There are lots of ways to help. We need dozens of volunteers to come out on Sunday and help us with the work. We need to borrow equipment; assorted gardening tools, brooms, hoses, leaf blowers and especially pressure washers (and folks who can operate them). We need donations of weed killer, cleaning fluid for the pressure washers and food for the after party. There are also opportunities for restaurants to help cater the “after party”. Anyone with the interest to see a better downtown will be warmly welcomed! Volunteers will be rewarded with pride for a job well done and a thank you meal at the end of the day.
