Summerville Christmas Parade

 Summerville DREAM is already in the midst of DREAMing of and planning for the 2012 Annual Summerville Christmas Parade!! Registration packets are now available for the parade which is set for Sunday, December 9, 2012.  Traditionally known as one of the largest parades in South Carolina, the parade has featured as many as 3000 participants and well over 10,000 spectators in the past. This year’s parade is sponsored by the Summerville Fire Department and Summerville DREAM (Downtown, Restoration, Enhancement and Management) and is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Santa’s Summerville Workshop".  All parade entries will be judged on adherence to the theme, originality, creativity and overall effort and visibility. All community members are encouraged to promote their organization, business or school by participating in the parade. Celebrate the holiday spirit by decorating a float, dressing up in holiday costume and distributing candy or come up with another creative entry. Only entries decorated in the holiday spirit will be allowed to participate. Commercial floats are available to rent if you want to make your life easier.

The registration deadline is Friday, November 30, 2012 at 4pm. The Christmas Parade Registration Packet is Available here or you can  request a registration packet via email at info@summervilledream.org  The packets are also available for pick-up at the Summerville D.R.E.A.M. office at 218 South Main Street in the First Citizens Bank Building on the second floor.  For more information, contact Summerville D.R.E.A.M at (843) 821-7260.

(Downtown Restoration, Enhancement and Management) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the quality of life in Summerville by enhancing the aesthetic, cultural, social and economic aspects of the Historic Downtown District while preserving the Historic Identity.

Affiliated with Main Street SC (MASC) and the National Main Street Association, Summerville D.R.E.A.M. works to enhance Community Identity and pride by providing “hometown” events, assisting businesses with design improvements, building tourism, and marketing Historic Downtown Summerville to residents and guests.
